Lead

Angela Gelli, PhD

  • Project 2 Lead
  • Project 2
Dr. Angela Gelli is a Professor of Pharmacology in the School of Medicine. She is particularly interested in pathologies that impact the blood-brain barrier (BBB). Dr. Gelli has used in vitro models of the BBB as well as in vivo models to identify translational therapeutic targets.

Co-Lead

Marco Gonzalez, PhD

  • Project 2 Co-Lead
  • Project 2
Dr. Marco Gonzalez is an Associate Professor of Neurology in the School of Medicine. He is interested in developing new therapies that stop or prevent recurrent seizure episodes in epilepsy. He studies cellular and molecular mechanisms underlying epileptogenesis, particularly calpain dysregulation.

Consultant

Fredric Gorin, MD, PhD

  • Project 2 Consultant
  • Project 2
Dr. Fredric Gorin is a Professor Emeritus of Neurology in the School of Medicine as well as Molecular Biosciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine. He is a board-certified neurologist with training in small molecule drug design. He is interested in the relationship of the plasminogen activating system and BBB dysfunction resulting in neuroinflammation.

Graduate Student

Brittany Davis, MS

  • Graduate Student
  • Project 2
Brittany Davis is a DVM-Ph.D. student in the Neuroscience Graduate Group. As a dual degree student, she aspires to contribute to research aimed at improving the quality of both human and animal lives. Her research is focused on understanding how organophosphate exposure affects the blood brain barrier, with the goal of identifying therapeutic strategies to mitigate neurotoxicity.

Postdoctoral Researcher

Yi-Hua (Teresa) Tsai, PhD

  • Postdoctoral Researcher
  • Project 2
Dr. Yi-Hua Tsai is a postdoctoral researcher in Dr. Pamela Lein's lab in the Department of Molecular Biosciences in the School of Veterinary Medicine. Her research for CounterACT involves the assessment and characterization of blood-brain barrier function in the rat model of acute OP intoxication.
